This is my friend Claire. She was nice enough to take me in for the weekend and show me around San Francisco. Now for my first day in the city and a crap load of photos....
First of all, Claire is a badass and was a great tour guide. Her house is in Mill Valley, outside of the city, and it is incredible. And to top it all off, her family were some of the nicest people I've met in a long time. Needless to say, I was super stoked.
I fell in love with SF pretty quickly. First off Claire took us to this lookout point, which is where I grabbed the picture above. I was actually digging the fog, and the bridge is massive, it was really cool to see it in person.

Then we just went for a drive around the city to get a feel for things. The architecture was amazing, I loved the buildings. The cool part, too, was that event though the buildings were usually the same structurally, they were all slightly different, and they all had a lot of character. Plus, I'm addicted to color, and people don't hold back here, especially with their houses.

Next we went down to Haight-Ashberry district and checked out all the funky little shops there. There were tons of dirty, dirty hippies down there, which was cool, but again, I think my favorite part was the buildings. This is a house that's on Ashberry that I loved:

From there, we went down to the Ferry Building and went into the marketplace. I loved it there, I wish I had more time to shoot. There were people everywhere, great little food shops, lots of cool sculptures, the bridge and tons of skyscrapers. I could easily have spent the whole day there, and I grabbed one of my favorite pictures of the trip.

I took a lot more pictures, and if you're interest you can see them on my flickr. Overall, it was a great day in the city, I can't wait to go again. Unfortunately, Claire is leaving to London for the year, so I'm going to have to find a new tour guide. Hopefully this time next year, though, she'll be guiding me around Europe!
