Day 115

115/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

Today I did a photoshoot for my friend's clothing company, Rion Surf
Rion is run by my friend Greg Classen, who is by far one of the nicest people I've ever met. We lived in the same hall in the dorms freshman year, and everytime I saw Greg he had the biggest smile on his face. Regardless of what's going on in his life, he manages to put a positive spin on things, and I'm starting to think it's impossible to get him down on something. It's something that I wish I had the ability to do, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It was in the dorms that Greg started drawing up some t-shirt designs, and Rion was born. He designs all the shirts himself and them sells them online and in person, and it's hard to turn away a guy who is so stoked on life. Every once in a while I'll get a call to take some pictures of a new shirt (and usually I get a couple of goodies in return), so today I took some shots in Greg's garage.

The lighting was super simple, two sb-24's with umbrellas, with the flash on the right set two stops lower than the one on the right. Get a little separation between the model and the wall in the background and you're good to go. I knocked off the upper-body shot up above, along with two others, in almost no time.

Really easy set up that worked really well, and I was in and out of the door in 15 minutes. If you are interested in the shirts, or learning more about Greg, you can check out his website here.
