Day 128

128/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

I went to class,  turned in my last midterm, and gave myself a personal day. Tony gave me a jingle and asked if I wanted to play some frisbee golf and, seeing no better way to spend a personal day, I accepted.

I absolutely love playing frisbee. Ultimate frisbee is more my game, but I really embrace it in all forms. I was even secretary of our frisbee club in highschool (long live The Frizz!). There's a frisbee golf course that runs through a couple of parks in IV (because my school is way cooler than yours), and I've been wanting to play for a long time, so today was pretty awesome.

Tony is a big fan of just exploring (which is hilarious because he has the worst sense of direction out of anyone I know), so it took us a little while to find the first hole. After walking the entire course backwards, though, we found it. The first toss of the day went like this:

That's how you know it's going to be a good game. Taking pictures was actually pretty fun, too. Especially since Tony looked like he was getting tubed on a surfboard after every throw:

I couldn't stop laughing. The course itself is really fun and actually pretty challenging. It's set up like a golf course, 9 holes with tee boxes and a par score, and it was actually pretty difficult. A lot of the time you can't see the hole from the tee box and you have to hook it around trees and other obstacles. Tony had a particularly hard time with these trees:

He threw it from where he was standing directly into the tree trunk, and luckily I was able to capture his despair. The course runs through three blocks across different sections of parks, and it was really pretty (especially considering it runs through IV). Holes 7 and 8 ran through a community garden that was pretty sweet, and the tee boxes were pretty cool too:

The best part is, you don't even need to bring snacks. There are random fruit trees around the course, so if you go at the right time, there'll be something ripe for the picking.

This fig came off of a tree right by hole 6. I also found out today that, while I could have a future as a professional frisbee golf photographer, Tony was miserable at it.

I do have a pretty sweet stance, though, and my game face is second to none. The picture of the day, at the top, was my favorite of them all. I was down two strokes, and that was the shot on the last hole that put the nail in my coffin. Overall, it was super fun and I can't wait to do it again.

And on a side note, new personal record for a blog post. This one comes in at 9 pictures:
