Today, friend of the blog (oh yea, I just used that) Leigh Mierke was in town for a shoot/soccer game/lighting demo, so I dropped into the lighting class.
We just got a new soundstage at UCSB, and I haven't really been able to play in there yet, so it was cool to check it out. They have the greenscreen set up and all the lights ready to go on stands, with power everywhere, I would have a field day shooting a movie in there. I learned a couple of cool things from Leigh, including this sweet book light set-up that I'm definitely going to use on the next movie I do, so overall it was a really fun break in my otherwise hectic day.
Hanging out in the sound stage made me realize how much I miss shooting movies. Photography is cool, and I'm using the same principles, but there's something about shooting a movie that is just super satisfying, especially when you do it well.
Since I put videos in the last couple of posts, I might as well stay consistent... for those of you that are curious, here's a little clip reel of some stuff I shot last spring for a movie that has yet to be finished (and at the rate they are going, will probably never be finished!).
