This is Henry Yang. He's the chancellor of UCSB and he's my new hero.

Friday night on Halloween weekend in IV can't be easily described... People flock from all around, and when I stop to think about what it must be like for them, I don't really get it.

Halloween started today (at least it did in IV), and in the middle of the night, the streets were flooded with the undead.

I went to class, turned in my last midterm, and gave myself a personal day. Tony gave me a jingle and asked if I wanted to play some frisbee golf and, seeing no better way to spend a personal day, I accepted.

Last day of midterms from HELL, and on my fight against cabin fever I went on another bike ride. I saw this car and I dug it. I know nothing about it, there's no story, it's just something I thought looked cool. I think it might be a Mercury. I can't wait for midterms to be over.

I caved. It's a flower. I don't want to hear it.

I have the midterm from hell on Tuesday, and a paper due Wednesday, so I spent my entire Saturday studying.

Today was the opening of the new theater on campus, the Pollock Theater. The class I'm a TA for happened to be the first class to ever get to use it, and our guest was Tom Pollock himself, so it was pretty cool.

That's right. I took the money that I saved up, and the money from Day 121's wheeling and dealing, and I splurged on a new bike.

This is Elliot on a brand new bike. This one's a two-parter, with the first part of the story after the jump.

We've had rain on and off all day, but the thunder just keeps coming. And it's not that wussy, tin pan thunder either. It's that deep, growling, angry thunder that lasts for 30 seconds and stops you in your tracks, sending shivers crawling up and down your back.

I got a new lens in the mail today, and it came just as the rain let up, so I took it for a test drive.

I spent most of my day in the library hunting down books for a research paper. The desks in the library are kind of like the post-its from Day 113 - everyone writes all over them.

I came home for the day today to say goodbye to my cousin Lash.

The undergraduate advisor for the film department is named Joe Palladino, and if you're a film major, he's like your mom and dad all rolled into one. I happen to spend a lot of time in Joe's office, which cool because it's filled with tons of cool stuff, and this note is by far the coolest.

The weather is changing and I'm not the biggest fan. I have a 9 AM class this quarter, and when it's raining outside and my bed is warm and my sheets are soft and my itunes plays the most relaxing songs to wake me up and I lie comfortably in bed and stare at the ceiling thinking about life and love and the picture for the day and the dream that got away and how nice it would be to just spend the day in bed reading with a coffee and to blow off all my commitments and shirk my responsibilities, it's terribly hard to get up and get motivated.

I feel like I have a million things to do lately, so when I go to the library and pass this giant wall of post-its, I take comfort in knowing that I'm not alone.

Today, friend of the blog (oh yea, I just used that) Leigh Mierke was in town for a shoot/soccer game/lighting demo, so I dropped into the lighting class.

Today I got to see Ziggy Marley play an acoustic set.

Going to college is one thing. Living in a college town is another thing entirely.

Shooting for the Nexus, I get to the opportunity to do some cool things I wouldn't normally do. Tonight, I saw the Pilobolus Dance Theater (who, interestingly enough, named themselves after a fungi that grows on herbivore poop).

I woke up to the sound of rain this morning and I felt like crap.

There's a koi pond in Storke Plaza on campus. I pass by it everyday on my way to work, and in my mind, it's totally out of place.

Today I went to the Sustainable, Organic, and Local (SOL) food festival in Santa Barbara. This is a chicken coop that looks like a giant chicken. It's super meta.

Totally missed the picture I wanted to take today, which is totally fine because I'll have more opportunities. Instead I went night shooting on campus which was actually pretty cool.
