Today we had sound check for Reel Loud. We've only practiced once, but my band of all-stars is ready. Now I just need to prepare myself...

The Pen 15 Club is a prestigious organization devoted to education and awareness. This whiteboard, housed in their headquarters, is the club's epicenter and changes according to what the house smells like, what day it is, and what word happens to be puzzling members. Applications are welcome, but rarely considered.

I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off this week. Reel Loud is on Friday, and I'm shooting my first wedding here, at the Canary Hotel, on Saturday. We did a little location scouting today, I've got a lot to get done in the next few days!

Today I went on a thrift store adventure with Jaimie and I was met with my worst nightmare.

I've been neglecting my guitar for a while, today I gave it some love.

Today cruised around in the Landshark and it was awesome.

People love asking me photo questions. A lot of the time it revolves around the gear. Well, after 331 days, a lot of experimentation, and a few different bags, I've got a pretty good set-up and I'm ready to share.

It seems like IV has been under constant construction this year, and the latest thing to get tinkered with is the power lines. We had no power all day a few days ago, which was a "planned outage". Then today, we had the power go off unexpectedly, and it stayed out all night. It has been a huge pain in the ass, I don't know how the Amish do it.

I took a thousand pictures yesterday, the last thing I wanted to do today was pick up my camera.

Today I shot UCSB's annual music festival, Extravaganza. This is Rusko, and he easily stole the show.

Ze weather human is a Nexus tradition. Zhe is anonymous and gender neutral. Ze identity of the human is kept a closely guarded secret. And the best part is, ze 'human almost never talks about the weather.

I finished editing today. It felt SO good to put my signature on it.

I really like shoes. I finally had to retire my shoes from Day 51 and after almost a year, I figured it was time to get some new kicks.

Day two of chopping film and my editing bay got an upgrade.

Remember that road trip I went on? Well I started editing all the footage today. It's Monday, and the deadline for the festival I'm submitting to is Friday, so I have a lot of work ahead of me. I took over my kitchen and set up a VERY janky editing bay, and I figured I'd share my ridiculous process.

Today was awesome and relaxing, but it didn't really translate into a picture very well. I took this when I was going to get some food and it ended up being the only picture I took today. There's something simple about it that I really like.

Jordan came down to visit. We were walking around IV trying to figure out what to eat and a bum was very impressed with Jordan's t-shirt. So impressed that, when we walked passed him again on our way home, he handed Jordan this. He hand crafted a flower made out of a piece of palm leaf.

Today was Cinco de Mayo, and after today, I firmly believe that sombreros are my photographic kryptonite.

I usually have a post about a haircut whenever I get one, and I started to ask myself why I do that.

Midterms always take a lot out of me and this quarter was no different. Between writing papers and shooting that music video, I had a lot of late nights that turned into early mornings and I haven't been sleeping much. I wrote a paper today on a film called The Tracey Fragments, which inspired today's picture. With a few exceptions, the entire film is told in split screens that are constantly shifting. It's a really interesting film, I would highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already.

The time has come to make the staff change for the next year, and I'm no longer the photo editor at the Nexus.

I went to Chilla Vista today, which is a cool community get together in IV. There were some good bands, some cool booths, and most importantly, a chick in a giant suit made of plastic bags.

I went around Isla Vista at midnight on a Friday and I was reminded of just how silly this place is. Right out of the gate, two houses down from my apartment, there was a guy sitting on a ledge texting (probably a booty call). I watched as he teetered back and forth before he fell backwards into the planter. Once he went down, he decided it'd be easier to finish his text before he got back up and I couldn't stop laughing.

Remember Jaimie and Keni and Erin? Well they were left to their own devices in our house last night. I came home in the wee hours of the morning and was very confused to find that the room had shifted.

We shot our car scene today in lighting class. Just a general note to everyone, if you plan on green screening a car, try to get one that's not black. The green reflections are a real pain to try and flag off, we ended up finding this weird mesh netting and a giant steel bar to take care of it but it still wasn't perfect.
