Today I went down to Ventura to have dinner with my family.
I got to see my parents on my birthday, but today I got to celebrate with my grandparents, uncle, cousin, brothers, and sister. We ate at this place that overlooked the harbor and it was awesome. I got there right in the middle of the magic hour too, so I couldn't help snapping away before ordering my food.
Everyone was on their game tonight. My grandpa (who still might be my favorite portrait of the project) kept making Charlie Sheen jokes, which were cracking me up. And tonight Faythe discovered she could stick her fingers in olives:

I wish I could get pumped on the simple things like she can. My mom was definitely on her game too, she put together a huge bucket of stuff for my birthday:

21 beers, 21 kitkats, 21 packs of gum, 2 bottles of wine, a wine glass, beer chips, a flask, boardshorts, a couple of sweet tank tops, and bacon chocolate. That's right, BACON CHOCOLATE! And that wasn't even the best part! I'm pretty big on wine, and she managed to find some weird dutch red wine that was made with chocolate:

We couldn't resist, we had to crack it open then and there and try it. It tasted like nesquik with a bit of a bite at the end, it's definitely something that would sneak up on you.
I am just going to go on record and say I have the raddest family there is. We're a pretty eclectic bunch, but we're always there for one another and whenever everyone gets together it's a good time. I've been stressing over finals and tonight was the perfect way to blow off some steam, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
