Day 246

246/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

Today I was a victim of racism.

It was actually pretty funny. Me and some of my friends went to eat at this place called Little Asia. Their menu was huge, with Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food, and nothing had an explanation, it just listed the names of the items. The Korean part of the menu actually had the dishes in Korean and made no sense to me at all. My friend Jane, who knows Korean, acted as interpreter for everyone and we figured out what we wanted. We all went up to the register, ordered, and waited at a table. After a bit, they called our numbers, we all got our food, and sat back down.

And then I looked down and saw a fork. I figured they just gave everyone forks, but I actually enjoy using chop sticks. "No big deal," I thought, "I'll just go grab some." Then I looked around at everyone else's plates to find that Jane was the ONLY ONE who got chopsticks, everyone else got forks. Apparently the guy behind the counter was watching us read the menu the whole time and figured we weren't good enough for chopsticks!
