Today was the second day of 10-10-10 shooting. And, contrary to my expression in this picture, it was a blast!
I was just... deep in thought? We'll go with that.
We had another great day, we got to shoot downtown and on the wharf and NO ONE hassled us, it was amazing. We also had some cool actors today. The guy in the picture, between me and Tony, was one of our actors and he shredded on a harmonica. He was a cool guy to meet and great to work with.
The big thing today though was the steadicam. I feel like every time I do a movie here I get to play with more toys, which is pretty rad. The steadicam wasn't playing nice, though. It was a pain to set up because the 5D wasn't heavy enough, so we had to add some steel plates to the top to try and weigh it down (you can see them with the yellow tape behind the camera). It STILL wasn't heavy enough, so I had to manhandle the thing all day. It didn't take long for me to develop a fear of it shooting up and hitting me in the mouth, that was really fun to worry about. The whole rig weighed somewhere between 20 and 30 pounds, so after walking up and down State St. a few times it got heavy. And it made me feel like a robot. But, all things considered, it worked really well and gave us some cool shots. I really like using steadicams, if I could do it professionally I totally would.
With the exception of 2 pick-up shots, we wrapped today. Fantastic crew and an awesome experience, I can't wait for the premiere.
To top off this incredible day, I got to see one of my all-time favorite directors speak at the film festival.I'm living the dream right now!
