Day 345

Today I  hung out with Greg while he worked on his masterpiece.

Greg runs a small clothing line out of his house and I occasionally shoot some things for him. We were talking recently and he mentioned that he was doing a photo-realist painting for one of his classes and it piqued my curiosity, so I asked if I could swing by and take a look at it.

I was blown away when I saw it, the painting in incredible. He wasn't quite finished when I took this picture, but the detail in it is amazing. I came over to the studio and hung out and we just talked while he painted, and it was crazy to me how much work goes into something like this. I watched him spend a solid ten minutes putting tiny white dots in very specific places. Out of curiosity I asked him how much time he had put into the painting so far and, after a taking a second to think about it, he said "at least 45 hours." It's absolutely mind boggling to me, I would never have the patience for something like that. Greg just picked up his beer, took a sip and went back to painting.
