Today I shot my first wedding, and it was Darling.
A couple of months ago Se Young, a fellow film major, asked me if I wanted to shoot her wedding. I was a little reluctant, it seemed like a lot of pressure, but after talking with her more I agreed. And then I did a lot of research. I read forums, I researched what other wedding photographers were doing, I did some location scouting, and I tried to prepare as best I could.
Cut to today, Vince and I walk up to the Canary Hotel completely kitted out. 5DmkII
We met James and Se and started snapping pictures as they started getting ready. And then the wind picked up. A bit before the ceremony was supposed to start, they decided they had to move it to a ballroom because the roof was too windy. I was expecting someone to freak out, but James and Se were the most calm people there. They were going to get married, and it didn't matter how.
The ceremony was great, the food was incredible, and the reception was touching. They are so in love it's ridiculous, and you could tell during their first dance. That's where today's picture came from and I love it because it totally tells the story. Se's ring draped over his shoulder (her ring is 3 pieces and one of the coolest rings I've ever seen), the way she looks at him, how they seem like they are completely alone in a room full of people, I absolutely love it. Today was definitely a challenge, but getting moments like this totally made it worth it. And the best part? Not two seconds later, they both busted out in song!
Congrats to the Darlings, I wish you guys the best!
