Day 181

181/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

I have never seen so much snow dump so quickly.

Something like 8 feet came down on us over 48 hours. We got into town Friday night, this is what Kyle's truck looked like by Sunday morning. We had to dig it out before we could leave, and it was still coming down on us the entire time.

Just to compare, this is what the truck looked like about 18 hours before:

The weather was gnarly the whole drive home, too. Just leaving Mammoth we saw 6 people who had slid off of the road. One of those cars was wrecked. Another one, a little Toyota truck with a steel off-road bumper, tried passing us on the highway, went into a slide right next to us, and then hit a snowbank. When we got low enough, the snow turned to rain and flooded everything out. At one point we had to go through an area that had flooded with at least 2 feet of water, we just hydroplaned right through it. It was by far the sketchiest trip home from Mammoth I have ever been apart of, it took us 6 and a half hours (it's normally 4 and a half!).
