Day 70

70/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

Yesterday I had the most visits to this site so far! Woohoo! It got me thinking, so I busted out my calculator today and did some statistical analysis. Totally kidding, I did it all in my head. So far, I'm pretty excited with how this blog is working out. For the number break downs (and how much money I've made on this thing so far) click on through.

I discovered Google Analytics, thanks to Sean Herron, about ten days into this project. If you run a website, you should have this if you don't already, because it is AMAZING. I was curious to see how many people were looking at my blog daily, and I got a lot more then I bargained for.

So without further ado, from June 29th to August, I have had:

844 different visitors.
These visitors are spread across 22 countries, spanning 6 continents.
Combined, they have visited my site 2,984 times.
On average, each visitor looks at 3.65 posts a visit.
This works out to 10,903 page views!
On average, people spend 2 minutes and 7 seconds a visit reading my blog.
Everyday, about 28.15% of my visitors are new, and have never seen my blog before.
The most visits I've had in a day was 140 on August 29th.

So what does this all mean? It means I'm having way more people look at this thing than I anticipated, and the audience is growing, which is awesome! So far, the top 3 most popular photos are:

Day 20 - Jordan's portrait, which has 232 views
Day 44 - Dustin and Katie's portrait, which has 224 views
And Day 24 - My Grandpa's portrait, which has 220 views

Around the same time as I discovered this analytics site, I discovered Google Adsense. I was curious to see if I could make some money doing this, so I put up some ads that run on the sidebar of this site. Whenever someone clicks on an ad, I make a little bit of money (feel free to click away...). So far, after 2 months, I have made a WHOPPING $9.82. It's not going to make me a millionaire, but it almost paid for that roll of film I shot on Day 66. It's been cool to watch this whole thing grow, I can't wait to see how the numbers break down over the next few months.

Overall, you guys are all awesome, and I'm super stoked you actually take the time to look at this. Especially if you've made it this far down this random post with a less-than-amazing photograph to draw you in. So thank you all, and remember to click those ads!
