Day 280

280/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

Today is the first day of my last quarter of college. It trips me out just thinking about it. Kind of like last quarter's fisheye series, this quarter I decided to do some 35mm  multiple exposures.

Like last quarter, I'm going to start this quarter with some goals:

1. Pass all of my classes - This is huge. If I pass, I graduate. If I don't, there will be a whole world of problems. It's never been a problem before, but I feel a severe case of senioritis setting in.

2. Go to film screenings - I've been watching more movies in my free time, which is awesome, but I also occasionally skip watching movies in my classes. We have the best movie theater in the world at UCSB, and every week there are free movies playing somewhere on campus. I found out last quarter that I apparently don't need to go to class to get decent grades, so my new goal is to not miss film screenings.

3. Work out - Same as last quarter, but I'm actually going to follow through with it. This quarter is way more relaxed, and I found some people to play racquetball with again, so this should be easy.

4. Make movies - Just like last quarter, this is a big one. Already ahead on this because I'll be finishing up the short film that Jaimie and I shot during our road trip, but I have some other things in the works too.

5. Cook - I eat out way too much, and I enjoy cooking. I just need to make time to do it. Plus I'm actually a decent cook, and most the time whatever I make tastes better than the food I would buy anyway. I'm going to try not to eat out more than twice a week.

6. Take advantage of my situation - I'm lucky. Really lucky.  There are certain things that I am in a position to do right now solely because I am a student at UCSB, and I need to exploit them. I can get press passes to concerts to shoot them. I can go to movies for free. I live a block and a half away from the beach. And I have (relatively) little responsibilities. And I need to take advantage of that, because pretty soon it's all going to go away.

7. Let my pictures speak for themselves - I'm getting into a really bad habit of putting up a somewhat generic picture and then trying to save it with the blog post. When my pictures are good, they speak for themselves. I want to take more pictures that don't need an explanation.

So there it is, 7 solid goals. Here's to the beginning of the end!
