Day 155

155/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

Every quarter, the very last issue of the Nexus is dedicated to the photo department. The photo issue, as it is lovingly called, is like a giant puzzle for me.
Including myself and Jon, the other photo editor, we have 12 photographers at the Nexus. This year we had 10 of them submit stuff, which left us with a little over 100 pictures to choose from and 6 pages to fill. From there, we have to design each page, edit the pictures to fit, and then place everything in the final layout.

Trying to figure out how many pictures each photographer gets, what pictures to print, and how to layout the page is like a giant, shifting puzzle. The picture above is the revised version of the first layout, including all the sizes of the boxes. It is, by far, the most thought I have to put into any issue, but it's also the most fun. It's the second photo issue I've done now, and I have to say, it turned out pretty good. If you are curious, you can check out the photos that made it in at the Daily Nexus' website.
