The time changed today, and normally I hate this time of year.
Winter has some great things: Snowboarding, dark beers, sitting by the fire, Christmas, New Years Eve, my birthday... the list goes on. But it also brings with it a lot of darkness, and I am a creature of the light. I love the sun, I love being outside, and I love a nice 75 degree day. I hate when the time changes for a number of reasons, but the biggest one is the fact that it gets dark so early. Between work and class, I barely have a chance to get any daylight, which bums me out.
This year though, I'm finding my attitude has changed a little. While I'm not a fan of what feels like perpetual darkness, the sunsets are amazing right now. The air seems crisp and clear, the clouds are cooperative and the light has a beautiful, intangible quality that I cannot describe but I love to capture. The darkness presents a kind of exciting challenge, too, when it comes to taking picture. When I started this project, I was dreading this time of year, but now that it's here, I'm kind of excited!
