This one is waayyy late, I was having some photoshop issues (apparently you're supposed to pay for it...). I did pay for a new lens though! Click through to read about it, and some comments about day 17's photo.
First of all, I splurged and got myself a 28mm f/2.8. It's a perfect portrait lens with the crop factor on my camera body, and with it's high aperture I can get that nice soft background. This was another quick and dirty photo, set up a flash and knock out the picture. The last few days have been pretty nuts and I've been running around taking care of business (what else is new). I have been wanting to use a mirror as a bounce for a flash for a while though, and I got to do it in this picture. I set up an SB-24 back and to the right to rim myself, and then it's bouncing off the mirror to give me some fill in the front. The rim is a little too bright IMO, but with a little more time/effort/space I think I could get it to look right.
Second, I don't like day 17's photo. I came home and did some photo editing around one in the morning after the event, woke up the next morning and posted it. After spending the rest of the day editing the other 79 photos that I had pulled from the massive 450 photos I shot that day, I ended up with a lot of frames that I was much more proud of and I think were overall much better than the one I ended up selecting. Part of the deal with this, though, is that I can't go back and change things. I just have to learn from it. If you are at all interested, though, you can see the rest of the photos from the event here.
Today we're having a WRTV reunion BBQ and I'm excited to see everyone, and then for tomorrow (if all goes according to plan) I'll have a nice portrait to share with you all. It should be a fun couple of days!
