I was drawing a blank today, so in the same vein as Day 77 I went with a random fact about myself.
I fidget with things, especially when I'm thinking. There's something about performing a mundane, mechanical task that helps me along in my process. On of the things I do most is take apart pens. They're easy to mindlessly pull apart and reassemble and there is always one close. Because of this, my desk can look like a pen graveyard sometimes. More often then not, I'll lose the pieces and have to throw my favorite pen away, which is always a bummer.
For this picture I hooked up my 430ex II
flash to my t2i
with a cheap ETTL cable. I just got this cable recently and it makes things so much easier, I can just dial in the light ratio I want in my camera rather then setting the level on the flash manually and trying to eyeball it. To give the light a little character I strapped on my honl grid
, another favorite piece of equipment that is super cheap. By gridding the light I get those nice dark spots in the edges of the pictures, which goes well the the harsh light I decided to go with. I went super gritty on this and I don't really know why... maybe I was trying to compensate for those sunset pictures from Days 208 and 209.
