Day 3

3/365, originally uploaded by Aaron LaRue.

The sky was beautiful last night, there's almost no light pollution where I'm at in Arizona. Rather than just take a picture of the stars, I wanted to see if I could put something in the foreground and balance the exposure. I set up a flash and nuked myself and the fence so there wasn't any ghosting, and then let the long exposure gather up the light from the stars. Everything is done in camera, just did some color correction in PS. I've wanted to try something like this for a while, and I'm stoked it worked!

lens: 18-55 f/3.5-5.6
strobes: SB-24 camera left through an umbrella @ 1/16 power
25 second long exposure

This is a pretty cool pic. I always try to take one of the stars but it never quite works out. I guess I need your nifty set up and maybe some of your talent. Gabe
